Parks
Lumphini Park This is the biggest park located in the center of business area and bordered by Rama IV Road, Sarasin Road and Witthayu Road. The park is popular among city dwellers who come to jog and practise Chinese Tai Chi. The artificial lake in the center is perfect for paddling. Musical shows are sometimes held in this spacious park.
Chatuchak Park
Situated next to the better known Chatuchak Weekend Market on Phahonyothin Road, Chatuchak Park is a nicely landscaped park and is considered the major park of Bangkok. This is a nice spot for relaxing after an exhausting shopping at the market.
King Rama lX Royal Park
The 200-acre park on Si Nakharin Road commemorates His Majesty King Rama IX's 60th birthday in 1987, and comprises a public park, a water park and extensive botanical gardens. A central building displays the works and life of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. It is open to the public every day from 6.00 am-6.00 pm.
Bus service : Non air-conditioned buses No. 2, 25, 38, 48 and air-conditioned buses No. 1, 8, 11, 13 to Soi Womsuk (Sukhumvit Soi 103) and thence by mini-bus to the park.
Siam Water Park
Siam Water Park in merely a 60-minute drive from the Lard Prao flyover, and is located in suburban Amphoe Minburi. The park features an extensive man-made sea with artificial surf, whirlpools, fountains and waterfalls, and towering water slides amid carefully landscaped gardens.
Satellite attractions include children's playgrounds, aviaries, and open zoo and botanical gardens. The complex is open daily from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm (weekdays) and 9.00 am to 7.00am (weekends). Bus service: No. 26 & 27 from Victory Monument.
Benchasiri Park
Located next to Emporium Shopping Center on Sukhumvit Road, the park was established to honor Her Majesty the Queens 60th birthday. It is a small but well kept and beautifully designed park.
The Rose Garden Country Resort
This popular tourist attraction is 32 kms. west of Bangkok on the bank of the Thachin river. It boasts large, beautiful and well- maintained gardens and is ideal for a picnic. In the resort there is a Thai cultural village where daily at 2.45 pm. an attractive show commences.
There are for instance, Thai folk dancing, Thai boxing, sword fighting demonstrations and elephant show. The resort can be reached by local buses from the Southem Bus Terminal. It is open daily from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm.
Santi Chai Prakan Pavilion and Public Park
The Park is on Phra Athit Road on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. It was constructed near Phra Sumen Fort under the cooperation between the Royal Thai Government and the general public to mark the auspicious occasion of the sixth cycle birthday anniversary of His Majesty the King on 5 December, 1999.
The spacious area provides a pleasant atmosphere as well as a scenic view of the Chao Phraya River and the Rama VIII Bridge. It is popular among both Thais and foreigners, especially from the nearby Bang Lamphu community.
